In Cold Spring Harbor, NY out on the North Shore of Long Island there is the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery. Genie and I used to take Snackette there many years ago to feed the fish ( they are very responsive ) check out the ancient turtles and the little aquarium. Madame Z and I stopped by a little while ago and saw that they now had a catch and keep trout pond. Well, for a group of people that hadn't gone fishing in years, this seemed like an easy way to get back into the swing of things. While Snackette and I both had some promising strikes, it was Madame Z that bagged our only prize, a one pound ( brown ?) trout measuring 14''.

We wrangled the beast home and Madame Z cleaned it ( and fed some of the tasty inside bits to M ). I threw it plain on the grill and the three of us had at it with chopsticks, dipping it in salt, soy sauce, pepper and garlic powder.

All in all, I can't imagine a better day.
